You can build a simple model chitin, a glucosamine polymer similar to cellulose and the main constituent of insect exoskeletons.
The glucose model kit is intended mainly for showing the various important sugars. However, chitin is composed of glucosamine which is only slightly different from cellulose. It is as important to insects as cellulose is to plants for maintaining structural integrity & is shown here for reference only.
