Scribe precise alignment marks and reference lines on metal surfaces with the Indigo™ 22574 stainless steel marking dental pick. Create visible witness marks for machining, assembly, and quality control.
Accurate alignment marks and witness lines are critical for precision machining, assembly verification, and quality control processes. Felt markers fade, wear off, or lack the precision needed for close-tolerance work. The Indigo™ 22574's hardened stainless steel straight pointed tip creates clean, permanent scribed lines on aluminum, brass, steel, and other metals. The right-angle tip is particularly valuable for marking inside corners, recessed surfaces, and areas where a straight tool can't reach. Machinists use these marks to verify part positioning, track component orientation through assembly processes, and create reference lines for subsequent operations. Unlike carbide scribes that can be too aggressive, the stainless steel provides controlled marking without excessive gouging.
Indigo™ dental tools are made with AISI 410 German surgical grade stainless steel, not "alloy steel" made from rusted cars. We've been selling dental tools on-line since 1998. Ours stay sharp longer & are autoclavable: see Documentation below that confirms chromium & manganese content.
Clean the surface to be marked, ensuring it's free of oil and debris. For straight lines, use the pointed tip with light pressure, drawing the tool along a straightedge or reference surface. The goal is a visible line, not a deep gouge; excessive pressure can make marks difficult to remove later. For marking in corners or recessed areas, use the right-angle tip with the tool held at a consistent angle. On soft metals like aluminum, use minimal pressure to avoid excessively deep marks. Always verify your mark placement before committing to deep scoring.
Need an ultrafine tool to clear clogged nozzles or microfilters? Insect pins may be a practical alternative. Our unique 100 pin sampler package has 10 pins in 10 thicknesses, all made with grade 316 stainless steel.
