Remove cotter pins and circlips from tight automotive and machinery locations with the Indigo™ 22578 stainless steel curved hook pick. Extract stuck fasteners without damaging threads or housings.

Cotter pins and circlips installed in recessed areas present extraction challenges that increase with rust, paint buildup, and limited access. Straight tools slip off curved fastener surfaces, and pliers often can't fit into confined spaces. The Indigo™ 22578's curved talon design excels at this common maintenance task; the sharp hooked tip catches cotter pin loops and circlip ends securely, allowing you to pull them free even when corroded in place. The ergonomic knurled grip provides leverage for stubborn fasteners without hand fatigue. Automotive technicians working on suspension components, aircraft mechanics servicing flight control linkages, and industrial machinery maintenance personnel all rely on this tool geometry for efficient fastener removal. The autoclavable 410-grade stainless steel resists corrosion and provides the strength needed to extract seized fasteners without bending.

Indigo™ dental tools are made with AISI 410 German surgical grade stainless steel, not "alloy steel" made from rusted cars. We've been selling dental tools on-line since 1998. Ours stay sharp longer & are autoclavable: see Documentation below that confirms chromium & manganese content.

How to Use

Inspect the cotter pin or circlip to determine the best approach angle. For cotter pins, hook the curved tip through the loop and pull steadily—avoid jerking motions that could break corroded pins. For circlips, hook one end of the clip and pull outward while rotating slightly to walk the clip out of its groove. If fasteners are severely corroded, apply penetrating oil and allow it to work before attempting removal. The curved design allows you to approach from angles straight tools cannot, but ensure you have solid engagement before applying force. After removal, inspect the groove or hole for damage that could affect new fastener installation.

Need an ultrafine tool to clear clogged nozzles or microfilters? Insect pins may be a practical alternative. Our unique 100 pin sampler package has 10 pins in 10 thicknesses, all made with grade 316 stainless steel.
