This 15X magnifier is well-suited for the early detection and identification of powdery mildew on plant surfaces. Even without the color correction of triplet lenses, it provides sufficient clarity and contrast to reveal the white or gray fungal mycelium, fine powdery growth, and sometimes black fruiting bodies (cleistothecia) associated with advanced infections.

Being able to see these structures on leaf undersides or stems, often before they're obvious to the naked eye, can help growers, students, or inspectors take timely action. Its compact, foldable design makes it ideal for greenhouse, vineyard, or field settings, where portability matters more than optical perfection. It also serves as a valuable tool in plant pathology workshops, school agriculture programs, or integrated pest management (IPM) training kits, especially when paired with mildew identification guides or spore reference charts.

We've offered this quality loupe since 2002 for conventional & promotional giveaway uses. See Branding & Related Products below for adding a logo (NOT included).

One customer says this in a Google Review "...loupes for studying plants and fungi...for my children...well made, well priced...easy to order online....highly recommend.

No complaints for the price! It produces clear images easily. The plastic seems durable enough, but I have not tested it. The only improvement I would like to see is some sort of attachment point for a lanyard or cord. I have used it to examine some of the Brood X cicadas and various other insects and plants. Very helpful for the curious biologist though you won't be able to see cells unless they are abnormally large. Also, Indigo Instruments has great customer service!

— Indigo:

Thanks for the review & feedback. We haven't been able to get a version with both a loop to attach a lanyard & a flat surface to allowing branding (printing). Our Phone Camera Dissecting Microscope shows a close up of a fly but we recommend the 10X 23mm for its better depth of field. It might also allow you to see cells such as leaf stomata or cork.

Just what I was looking for. My grandkids are using them to examine bugs and flower parts in their yard.

Super-handy to have. I should have read closely that these are plastic, not metal, but that's on me. No complaints about the product.
