Triphenylphosphine (PPh3 or Ph3P) is an organophosphorus compound with a phosphorus atom bonded to three phenyl (C6H5) groups & is classified as a monodentate ligand. It acts as a reducing agent when used in organic and organometallic compound synthesis. Triphenylphosphine can also be used to make vitamin D2, vitamin A, and the antibiotic clindamycin. This compound possesses C3 point group symmetry.
