Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid found in biological membranes that consists of a glycerol molecule connected to two esterified fatty acid chains at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions. The sn-3 position links to a phosphate group, which is in turn bonded to a choline headgroup, a quaternary ammonium compound.
