Verify peracetic acid levels in treated wastewater with Indigo® 0–50 ppm test strips. Ensure effluent discharge safety and meet EPA and municipal compliance standards
Peracetic acid (PAA) is a strong oxidizing agent widely adopted in municipal wastewater treatment for its high disinfection efficiency. It rapidly inactivates bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and unlike chlorine or UV, its performance is not reduced by water turbidity or pH. Typical PAA levels of 10–15 mg/L in disinfected primary effluents have been shown to significantly improve water quality.
Municipal wastewater treatment plants increasingly rely on PAA as a chlorine-free alternative that minimizes harmful by-products such as trihalomethanes. 0–50 ppm PAA test strips provide operators with a quick, on-site method for verifying residual levels, ensuring both effective pathogen reduction and compliance with discharge permits.
