Docosahexaenoic acid is a 22:6 carbon polyunsaturated omega 3 fatty acid. It consists of a 21 carbon aliphatic (alkene) portion which has six cis-double bonds at positions 4, 7, 10, 13, 16 and 19 and a carboxylic acid functional group. Humans can convert alpha-linolenic acid into DHA which plays a structural role in the brain's cerebral cortex, skin, and retina.

This version can also be built with our 68827W organic chemistry student set & 68847W organic chemistry class set.
