Sucrose, more commonly known as table sugar, is a disaccharide composed of 2 monosaccharides or simple sugars known as fructose & glucose. When ingested, your liver breaks the disaccharide down into the 2 simple sugers.

Sucrose is used to sweeten a variety of foods but in many cases has been replaced by the simple sugars fructose & glucose directly which are found in corn syrup.
