Build a molecular model of the synthetic rubber material Neoprene utilizing Authentic Molymod Model Parts by Indigo.
Neoprene (or polychloroprene) is a synthetic rubber polymer consisting of chloroprene monomers, as shown in the image. Chloroprene's two double bonds define it as a diene & has properties similar to polyisoprene and polybutadiene. The structure of the neoprene polymer forms when the double bonds in chloroprene are converted into single bonds which link to form the longer chained polymer. The most common form is trans-polychloroprene (note - only the starting material shows, the polymer does not render in the 3D Model Builder).
You can find more information by clicking on Neoprene, the First Synthetic Rubber.
A molecular model of Neoprene in the Molymod Hybrid Dome style uses the atoms & bonds in the parts list below. Our free 3D Molecular Model Builder shows other styles & allows for image rotation as an assembly guide.
