Maleimide

Assemble a 3D molecule structure model of Maleimide utilizing Authentic Molymod Components by Indigo

Maleimide is a cyclic dicarboximide structure with two carboacyl groups on either side of a nitrogen atom. It acts as DNA topoisomerase (ATP-hydrolysing) inhibitor functionally related to maleic acid derived from a 1H-pyrrole.

Maleimide has applications in organic chemistry, materials science, and biochemistry. The latter includes protein labelling fluorescence tagging of thiol (sulfhydryl) groups for site-specific modification of proteins & bioconjugation.

This compound is also used for production of Bismaleimides that are used as polymer crosslinking reagents.
