Bendamustine is a nitrogen mustard that has a chemical structure of a bifunctional mechlorethamine/chlormethine derivative consisting of a double chlorine head (which hydrolyzes as the main reaction pathway) and a carboxylic acid tail. It also contains a benzimidazole ring. Bendamustine is used as a chemotherapy medication for treating cancers such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
