Build an L alanine amino acid structure model; one of 20 available with this molecular model kit. L alanine has an aliphatic, non polar side group. Structurally it is the second most basic amino acid but the most frequently occuring in proteins.
You can link amino acids to make peptides using a trigonal planar 3 hole nitrogen atom. The Zwitterion form, fragment shown in inlay, requires an additional tetrahedral nitrogen atom. Both atoms can be added to the shopping cart from Related Products below. Add one of each per model or all 20 at once.
Use our free 3D Molecular Model Builder tool to guide you. It can show any amino acid and the parts needed to build it.
Alanine belongs to the C1 Symmetry Point Group.

Every Molymod molecular model kit sold by Indigo Instruments is fully compatible with older ones you might own. You can also replenish an old kit or customize it with Genuine quality Molymod parts.
I ordered the Molymod 20 amino acid model kit along with some individual items, and they all arrived promptly in just a few days. The parts are easily assembled and look like the diagrams on the Indigo site. I have sent the sales representative several questions, asking for advice, and amazingly there is a helpful email reply on the same day, even if it is a holiday. I think they are great!
Studying isn't a 9-5MF "job" so happy to help. Hope you were able to make use of our 3D Molecular Model Builder.
