Thebaine or paramorpine is an alkaloid opiate that is chemically similar to morphine & codeine which are pain medications with wide application. Unlike the related compounds which can depress the nervous system, thebaine acts as a stimulant.

Thebaine itself has no commercial uses but is chemically converted into oxycodone, oxymorphone, naloxone & others.
