The Indigo™ gasket seal remover is a dual ended stainless steel dental pick for pulling o rings or extracting tight fitting rubber seals; only $4.95.

This professional-grade O-ring removal tool features 2 different tip geometries for extracting tight-fitting O-rings and small rubber gaskets without damaging precision-machined grooves or delicate component surfaces. One end features a curved hook tip ideal for accessing O-rings in open housings and shallow grooves, while the opposite end provides an angled tip designed to reach seals in recessed areas and tight spaces where fingers cannot access

Manufactured from 410-grade stainless steel, this O-ring gasket remover offers the perfect balance of strength and surface protection; rigid enough to extract compressed seals hardened by years of pressure and fluid exposure, yet less aggressive than improvised tools that gouge soft metals and crack plastic components. The textured grip handle ensures secure control even when working with oil, fuel, or fluid contamination, while the autoclavable stainless steel construction maintains tool integrity where repeated sterilization cycles are required.

Indigo™ dental tools are made with AISI 410 German surgical grade stainless steel, not "alloy steel" recovered from rusted cars. We've been selling this grade of tool since 1998. Ours stay sharp longer & are autoclavable: see "Documentation" below for the chemical analysis certificate.

Details

Extraction Technique

  • Approach Angle: Insert tip at 15-20 degree angle between O-ring and groove wall
  • Hook Motion: Use gentle hooking action rather than prying or scraping
  • Circumferential Work: Work around entire O-ring circumference rather than concentrating force in one location
  • Lubrication: Apply appropriate lubricant (silicone grease, penetrating oil) to severely stuck seals before extraction
  • Surface Protection: Avoid dragging tip across finished surfaces; focus contact on the O-ring itself

Maintenance & Care

  • Rinse tool with appropriate solvent after each use to remove residual fluids
  • Dry thoroughly to prevent water spots on stainless finish
  • Store in clean, dry environment away from corrosive chemicals
  • Inspect tips periodically for bending or wear; replace if compromised
  • Autoclave sterilization safe for medical or food-grade applications

Advantages Over Alternative Tools

  • vs. Plastic O-Ring Picks: Stainless steel are more rigid for extracting compressed seals while maintaining edge sharpness through repeated uses. Plastic picks bend and wear quickly, requiring frequent replacement.
  • vs. Improvised Tools (screwdrivers, knife blades): Tip geometries and polished finish reduce extraction force and limit surface damage compared to rough tool surfaces.
  • vs. Hardened Steel Picks: 410-grade stainless steel is hard enough for seal extraction yet softer than hardened tool steel, significantly reducing scratch and gouge risk on aluminum, brass, and plastic components.
  • vs. Single-Ended Tools: The dual-tip configuration provides two different approach angles and tip geometries in one tool, eliminating the need to purchase and carry multiple specialized picks.

Need an ultrafine tool to clear clogged nozzles or microfilters? Insect pins may be a practical alternative. Our unique 100 pin sampler package has 10 pins in 10 thicknesses, all made with grade 316 stainless steel.

Specifications

Not made from low-cost chrome plated tools that rust when scratched & dull easily. Indigo™ dental tools are made from genuine medical grade stainless steel & can be resharpened.

Dental Tool Classification

In professional dental tool catalogs, this instrument is classified as a dental explorer featuring a curved tip known as a sickle probe (curved end) and an interproximal configuration (angled end). While originally designed for dental applications, these tip geometries have proven equally effective for mechanical seal extraction across automotive, industrial, and residential maintenance applications. The precision engineering and material quality standards required for dental instruments translate directly to superior performance in O-ring and gasket removal tasks.

Product Features

  • Dual-tip design: Curved and angled tips for different faucet configurations
  • 410-grade stainless steel: Strong yet non-marring on chrome and brass
  • Textured grip handle: Secure control in wet conditions
  • Corrosion-resistant: Withstands exposure to water and cleaning chemicals
  • Compact size: Fits in tool bags and tight under-sink spaces

Add this Indigo™ professional O-ring gasket removal tool to your toolkit and protect expensive components from damage during routine maintenance.

Documentation

The Certificate of Analysis details Cr, Mn & Ni content that ensures the hardness, durability & rust resistance of Indigo™ dental tools. Why is this important? Read: Stainless Steel Tool Chemical Analysis

The autoclavable nature of 410-grade stainless steel allows sterilization at temperatures up to 135°C (275°F), making this tool suitable for medical device maintenance, food processing equipment, and other applications requiring sanitized tools.

Material Properties: 410-Grade Stainless Steel

410-grade stainless steel is a martensitic chromium alloy offering excellent hardness, strength, and moderate corrosion resistance. This material grade is specifically chosen for tools requiring rigidity under pressure while maintaining surface finish quality. The composition typically includes (see certificate for exact values of our tools):

  • Chromium:11.5-13.5%
  • Carbon: 0.15% maximum
  • Manganese: 1.00% maximum
  • Silicon: 1.00% maximum
  • Phosphorus: 0.040% maximum
  • Sulfur: 0.030% maximum
