Effective for coronavirus, norovirus & drug resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA. These strips are well suited for use in places as diverse as hospitals to hair salons. 

Experiments with fresh tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) showed surface-sterilization in 2 minutes after dipping in a 1% (10,000ppm) sodium hypochlorite solution.

Norovirus is highly contagious with a low viral load of fewer than 100 particles. It can cause acute gastroenteritis (inflammation of the digestive tract) leading to diarrhea & vomiting. People infected with norovirus can be contagious for up to 2 weeks & should avoid handling/preparing food to avoid foodborne illness.

Billions of viral particles can be shed in stool & vomit and can easily infect others by touching contaminated surfaces. Test water samples with Indigo® 0-10000ppm high range chlorine test strips to ensure enough free chlorine sanitizer in the correct amount is present to overcome organic interference caused by blood, vomit or feces. These should be cleaned immediately with a chlorine bleach solution of 1000-5000ppm left on the affected area for 5 minutes or more.

Chlorine bound by organic contamination (blood/feces) seriously reduces the effectiveness of bleach disinfectant solutions. You may need 1000ppm minimum to ensure adequate disinfection, so start with a higher initial concentrations, up to 10,000ppm (1%). Indigo® extra high level 5000-10000 ppm test strips will confirm your surface disinfectant spray is effective in the presence of binding organics.

Chlorine bleach at these high concentrations is an effective germicide for dangerous viral & bacterial pathogens such as MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) staph infections & Clostridium difficile, found ever more frequently in hospitals and other health care facilities.

Having trouble trying to calculate how to prepare a 1000, 2500, 5000, 10,000 (or other) ppm chlorine solution? Take out the dilution guesswork using our chlorine dilution calculator. It's in metric (NIH, FDA, EPA, do it that way before converting to American units). You can too. A quart is close to a litre, a gallon is 4 litres, a cup is 250ml, a tablespoon is 15mL & a teaspoon is 5ml. There's no need to be exact since the guidelines allow for this.

Disinfect with 1000-5000ppm chlorine bleach based household cleaner by spraying on countertops, taps, wash basins, lightswitches, doorknobs, railings & shared eating utensils. Wait at least 5 minutes & then wash with hot soapy water.

Prepare a 5000ppm chlorine bleach disinfectant solution exposed to blood, feces or vomit. Spray the infected area & leave on for 5 or more minutes. Then wash with hot soapy water.
