The unit cell of hexagonal graphite is shown by purple atoms which have replaced 15 black ones. This unit cell intersects3 layers. The middle, B layer, 5 purple atoms is antiparallel to the 5 atoms in the A layers above & below.
The purple trigonal bipyramdal atoms are not included. They are listed in the Related Products section below. You need to add 15 of them to the shopping cart. If you are buying only one kit, this will also be enough to show the unit cell in the alternate rhombohedral version.
You can compare this structure to the beta-rhombohedral unit cell.
Why does: http://aflow.org/prototype-encyclopedia/A_hP4_194_bc.html show 10 atoms for unit cell?
Indigo Instruments has maintained a substantial inventory of genuine Cochranes of Oxford (Orbit) parts for 30+ years and are compatible with every molecular model kit we have sold. This level of quality may appear expensive but no parts support from other vendors costs even more.
The interlayer bonds are flexible to allow the layers to move showing the weak van der Waals attraction which is a basic property of graphite.
