The fluorite unit cell shows a face centered cubic crystal structure of Calcium atoms with Fluorine occupying the 8 tetrahedral interstital sites. Each calcium is coordinated to 8 fluoride anions (F-) which in turn is surrounded by four Ca2+ cations. This gives it 4 axes of perfect cleavage, often yielding octahedral shaped crystals.
Indigo Instruments has maintained a substantial inventory of genuine Cochranes of Oxford (Orbit) parts for 30+ years and are compatible with every molecular model kit we have sold. This level of quality may appear expensive but no parts support from other vendors costs even more.
