This 12.5x5x5mm N42 neodymium ring magnet is an excellent tool accessory in paint masking. It is particularly useful for producing repeatable, clean, and hands-free masking in both hobby-related and industrial applications.
Ring magnets can act as a mechanical masking device by holding down a masking disk, stencil, or film around a small circular area like a bolt head or connector. It can be centered around protrusions where spray access must be blocked but alignment is key. Or, use for stacking over shafts or threaded parts to shield them while painting the surrounding surface.
Some of the more interesting applications include model painting such as airbrush masking of cockpits or gun barrels. Automotive detailing, especially when used as bolt or rivet masks. PCB conformal coating Precision painting of knobs, dials, fasteners.
Other ring magnet sizes may be more suitable depending on the object it needs to surround, the thickness of the material being held down or the thickness of the underlying metal.
We have sold NdFeB magnets since 1996 and N42 grade since 2003, the best value for strength & temperature vs cost. Don't be fooled by claims of higher strength, N52, at lower cost.
