Iodine is an oxidizing sanitizer often referred to as an iodophor. It is used in industries ranging from food production, dairies, wineries, home brewing, food service to healthcare. Iodine is effective in the 12.5 to 25 ppm (12.5 to 25 mg/L) range against a diverse range of microbes including bacteria, yeast, mold, fungi, viruses, and protozoans.

Iodophors such as BTF are cost effective & a small amount goes a long way. Keep diluted solutions sealed & they will last weeks to months. These inexpensive iodine test strips can check that it is still effective. Use them to ensure a minimum of 12.5 ppm dilution is maintained or if BTF has been opened for an unknown length of time.
