The 10x5x1mm rare earth block bar magnet has many potential uses in making 3D printed prototypes. Among them are:

  • Snap-fit panels with magnets embedded in walls, lids or compartments create removable parts without hinges or fasteners. Pause printing at the desired layer, insert the magnet into a cavity, then resume printing to encase it. This produces a smooth, clean look where no screws or clips are visible.
     
  • Modular prototypes (swappable parts) with interchangeable faces, modular mechanical assemblies, or electronics modules that snap together using the embedded magnets. 
     
  • Hidden assembly points (invisible fastening) with magnets that attach covers, panels, or skins with no visible connectors. Simply print two matching parts with hidden cavities for the magnets to yield a clean finish that looks like a single solid piece.
