Magnaprobe MkI 3 Axis Magnetometer
The Magnaprobe Mk I uses precision jewel bearings for extremely sensitive responses to magnetism & moves freely on the 3 x, y, z axes. It can detect a magnetic field as low as 0.3 gauss at 100mm but this sensitivity is axis dependent; other axes may detect 0.7 gauss.

In the top part of the compositive image, a small Nd disc magnet, 5x2.5mm has been placed 150mm away & has no effect on the Mark I Magnaprobe. The 30 degree tilt is caused by a response to the earth's magnetic field.
In the lower part of the image, the magnet is now only 75mm away & this is sufficient to overcome the earth's magnetic field & force the magnet into a horizontal position. The field strength of the magnet at this distance is approximately 0.3 Gauss.
The Mark 1 Magnaprobe is sensitive enough to will respond to even the weakest of our Permanent Magnets.
Note: Avoid contacting other magnets. If you do so by accident, detach the Magnaprobe by holding its magnet. Do not simply pull back with the handle as you will ruin the device.

I have bought several of these over the years, originally from the British company that makes them, and more recently from this company. I have trouble keeping them because everyone seems to want one. They are indispensable for showing the angle of the magnetic field in three dimensions. It is like a 3 dimensional compass, and very sensitive too. It will even show the vertical angle of the Earth's magnetic field! If your business is magnets, you need one of these.
